DIY Wooden Twin Beds- Boy's Room Makeover Week!

We finally decided to upgrade our boy's bunk beds to brand new twin size beds! But after looking at the prices of beds (some were $400+!!!) I kinda got sticker shock! My least expensive option was ikea, but even still I wasn't real excited to be buying two at once. So we decided to cost it out, and it turns out we were basically able to build two for the price of one!

If you haven't already, watch our How To video HERE.

For each bed you will need these 8 foot boards-

(4) 2 x 2
(3) 1 x 4
(3) 1 x 6
(6) 1 x 3

And here are the cut measurements for each board-

2 x 2
(2) 68" Inner Sides
(2) 42" HeadBoard / Feet
(1) 29" Inner Head of Bed
(2) 12" Feet of Bed

1 x 4
(6) 42" Headboard Slats

1 x 6
(2) 76" Sides of Bed
(2)  39" Head & Foot of Bed

(6) 1 x 3
(12) 40" Slats
(1) 16" Inner Head Of Bed Slat

This is that really cool Jig that I used to create the pocket holes on the boards. I love that we were able to put them together without screws visible on the outside of the beds! Also, here are the screws that we used as well as the clamps

So far the kids are loving them and i'm loving how they turned out! Make sure and check back on Friday to see how the complete bedroom makeover turned out. :)

xoxo Brittany
